Product Features
The key features of our titanium seamless tubes include:
Corrosion resistance
Titanium exhibits exceptional corrosion resistance, even in harsh environments that would quickly corrode other metals.
01
High strength
Titanium has a strength-to-weight ratio that is superior to other metals, making it ideal for applications where strength is paramount.
02
Low weight
Titanium is the lightest of all metals, making it ideal for weight-sensitive applications.
03
Biocompatibility
Titanium is biocompatible, meaning it is not harmful to living tissue. This makes it an ideal material for medical implants and devices.
04
High temperature resistance
Titanium can withstand high temperatures without losing its strength or corrosion resistance.
05
Material Grade Standards
At TSM Technology Co Ltd, we use several titanium grades to produce our seamless tubing, including:
| Grade | UNS | Common Name | Key Properties | Typical Applications |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Gr 1 | R50250 | Pure Titanium | Best formability, excellent corrosion resistance | Chemical processing linings, medical implants, plate heat exchangers. |
| Gr 2 | R50400 | Pure Titanium | Standard grade, optimum balance of strength & corrosion resistance | Heat exchangers, piping systems, seawater desalination units. |
| Gr 5 | R56400 | Ti-6Al-4V | Highest strength titanium alloy, good weldability | Aerospace structural components, aircraft engine parts, high-performance automotive. |
| Gr 7 | R52400 | Pd Alloy | Enhanced corrosion resistance, excellent for reducing acids | Chemical processing industry, high-concentration chloride environments. |
| Gr 9 | R56320 | Ti-3Al-2.5V | Intermediate strength, excellent welding and forming properties | Aircraft hydraulic tubing, bicycle frames, marine fittings. |
| Gr 12 | R53400 | Ti-0.3Mo-0.8Ni | Improved high-temperature creep strength | Shell and tube heat exchangers, hydrometallurgy applications. |
Chemical Composition
The chemical composition of our titanium seamless tubes varies depending on the grade and customer requirements. Generally, titanium contains at least 99% pure titanium, with small amounts of other elements added to improve its properties.
The table below shows the typical chemical composition (in weight percentage, max unless specified) of commonly used titanium grades for seamless tubes, according to ASTM standards.
| Element | Grade 1 (UNS R50250) | Grade 2 (UNS R50400) | Grade 5 (Ti-6Al-4V, UNS R56400) | Grade 9 (Ti-3Al-2.5V, UNS R56320) |

How to Select the titanium grades
Grades 1 & 2 (Commercially Pure): Excellent Ductility & Formability. Ideal for severe cold forming (e.g., flaring, bending). Grade 2 is the most common general-purpose grade.
Grade 5 (Ti-6Al-4V): The workhorse alloy with the highest strength. Used where a high strength-to-weight ratio is critical. Ductility is lower.
Grade 9 (Ti-3Al-2.5V): Offers a superior balance between strength and ductility. Often called a "half-strength Gr5," it has excellent weldability and is ideal for applications like aircraft hydraulic lines and bicycle frames.
This chart visualizes the fundamental trade-off between strength and ductility among the key titanium grades, aiding in initial material selection.
