Titanium Alloy Bar is a solid metal bar made from titanium combined with other alloying elements-such as aluminum, vanadium, molybdenum, or palladium-to enhance its mechanical and chemical properties. Compared with commercially pure titanium, titanium alloy bars offer higher strength, better heat resistance, and improved performance in demanding environments, while still maintaining titanium's low density and excellent corrosion resistance.

 

Titanium alloy bars are commonly produced through hot forging, hot rolling, or cold drawing, followed by heat treatment and surface finishing. They are available in various shapes, including round bars, square bars, hexagonal bars, and flat bars, and are manufactured to international standards such as ASTM B348, AMS, and ISO specifications.

CP Titanium Grade 1

Softest titanium; has the highest ductility and good cold forming characteristics

CP Titanium Grade 2

has moderate strength and good cold forming characteristics; also has good welding, corrosion and oxidation corrosion properties

CP Titanium Grade 3

stronger and less formable; has excellent corrosion resistance

CP Titanium Grade 4

commercially pure titanium; has lower ductility; can be cold formed; corrosion-resistant

Titanium Grade 5 – 6Al-4V

Most commercially available alloy; has combined toughness and high strength; has good fabrication and welding properties

Titanium Grade 7 - Ti-0.2Pd

has mechanical and physical properties similar to CP3; excellent fabrication and welding properties

How Engineers Select Titanium Bars

For high-strength or load-bearing components such as shafts, fasteners, and structural parts, Titanium Grade 5 (Ti-6Al-4V) is the preferred choice due to its excellent strength-to-weight ratio. For general industrial applications where corrosion resistance and formability are more important than strength, Commercially Pure Titanium Grade 2 bar offers the best balance of performance and cost.

In highly corrosive environments (chemical processing, marine service), engineers often select Grade 7 titanium bar with palladium for enhanced resistance to crevice and acid corrosion. For medical or aerospace applications, Grade 5 ELI titanium bar is commonly specified to meet strict mechanical and cleanliness standards.
