1. The existence of nature
Titanium is abundant in the earth, and its content is higher than copper, nickel, tin, lead and zinc. There are about 140 known titanium minerals, but industrial applications are mainly FeTiO3 and TiO2.
(1) Types and distribution of ore deposits
There are more than 30 countries with titanium resources. But titanium is mainly distributed in Australia, South Africa, Canada, China and India and other countries. Canada, China and India are mainly mineral deposits; Australia and the United States are mainly placer; South Africa's rocks, mines and placer deposits are very rich.
(2) Typical deposit
There are 7 main production abroad ilmenite placer mining: Australia's east coast, South Africa, South America and Richards Bay, east coast of India Peninsula in southern Kerala, Sri Lanka, Ukraine, the southeast coast of Brazil.
There are 3 main areas: Australian foreign rutile placers east coast, southwest coast of South Africa, the Richards of Sierra leone. Sri Lanka, India, Brazil and the United States have also produced a small amount of output.
2. The global distribution of titanium reserves
According to USGS in 2015 showed that the total amount of global resources of anatase is more than 20 tons, titanium ore reserves of about 7.2 tons, accounting for 92% of the global titanium ore, Jin Hongshi reserves of about 47 million tons, two of the total reserves of about 7.67 tons. Global titanium resources are mainly distributed in Australia, South Africa, Canada, China and India and other countries.
Among them, China's ilmenite reserves accounted for 28% of global reserves, ranking first in the world. The rutile resources in Australia account for 60% of the total rutile in the world, and they are the most abundant countries with rutile resources.
3. Distribution of China's titanium reserves
China is rich in titanium resources, is the world's largest titanium resources, and its reserves are in the forefront of the world. The ore industry types of China's titanium deposits are relatively complete, both primary ore and secondary ore. The primary vanadium titanium magnetite ore is the main industrial type in china. Ilmenite accounts for 98% of China's total titanium reserves, and Jin Hongshi accounts for only 2%. According to data released by the United States Geological Survey (USGS) in 2015, China's ilmenite reserves of 2 tons, accounting for 28% of global reserves, ranking first in the world.
4. The global production of titanium
(1) Ilmenite production
According to data released by USGS in 2015, the output of ilmenite in the world was 6 million 680 thousand tons in 2014, a slight decrease of 5 tons compared with 6 million 730 thousand tons last year. Among them, Australia and South Africa output of 1 million 100 thousand tons, tied for the first; ranked second in China, in 2014 production of 1 million tons.
(2) Rutile production
According to data released by USGS in 2015, the global rutile output was 770 thousand tons in 2014, an increase of 103 thousand tons compared with 667 thousand tons last year, an increase of 15% over the same period. Among them, Australia ranked first in the world with 480 thousand tons of output, accounting for 62% of the total.
(3) Sponge titanium
According to USGS in 2015 released that in 2014 the total output of the world titanium sponge is 192 thousand tons, of which Chinese titanium sponge production was 110 thousand tons, accounting for about 57% of the global total, ranking first in the world, is worthy of the power of titanium sponge.
